Being a “Modern” witch: Healing your Energy
On April 11, 2019 by mysticdd-adminI recently recorded a podcast with my friend Rachel, discussing ways to be a “witch” in the modern world. In our talk, we went over simple ways to incorporate your practice in subtle ways that don’t advertise what you are doing yet let you be who you are.
Some are super simple, like boosting your chakras with a particular colour for your day. If you need a chakra refresher, check in my library for some links to sources that can get you started.
Think about your day ahead, and using your favourite method of divination, select your wardrobe based on which chakra needs a boost. If your wardrobe is lacking in colour, as many of our professional wardrobes do, use nail polish in the colour you need. If this idea scares you, try just painting your toe nails first. No one needs to know but you. It really can be the little things that make a difference. Maybe your first step is to add a coloured scarf or handbag.
“But I don’t have a divination practice.” So no Tarot or Oracle cards, no pendulum, no chakra stones to choose from. Not an excuse. One super “under the radar” chakra set is a selection of coloured buttons, one for each chakra. Who’s going to know that you aren’t just preparing for any wardrobe emergency. Throw some thread and a needle in the mix and your “Chakra on the Sly” kit is good to go anywhere.
Jewelry is another good way to be discreet with your colour enhancements. Rings are the most visible method as your eyes will see the colour as you go about your day. Earrings are more subtle, but are just as effective. And who doesn’t love a nice set of bangles hanging about your wrist. Coloured chakra bracelets or coloured charms on chain will also work. Hang a rainbow image where you can see it. Now you’ve got all seven colours covered.
Need a “pick me up” in your office space? Choose a plant, or a few, that can survive in the environment and help cleanse your air. If you can have a flowering plant, all the better. Select ones that will bring peace and support to your space. This goes for your home as well. Check the library for references to plants and what benefits they can have.
One idea that appealed to me from my talk with Rachel was the idea of having a small plant purchased and cared for with a specific friend or family member in mind. If you struggle to keep plants alive, this method may not be for you. As you take care of each plant, send good health and support to your chosen person or animal. If you notice that the plant is failing in some way, check in on that person and see if your help is needed in a more obvious manner.
And don’t forget that the food you eat can be beneficial to your energy centers as well. Use your diet to enhance your chakras. It is as simple as making a salad (green), with tomatoes (red), peppers (yellow), mandarins (orange), blueberries (blue, obviously), red onion (purple), and a oil-based or cream dressing (clear/white). This covers everything at once. Not practical? Don’t like some of those ingredients? You are your own chef. Mix it up to suit you.

As with anything you read, take what works for you, walk away from the rest.
